Indiana Jones’s Wedding

Last year on the 15th of June, Indiana Jones’s star, Harrison Ford (67) married his long time girlfriend and star of the hit-show Ally McBeal, Calista Flockhart (45). The pair met at the 2002 Golden Globe Awards and have been together ever since. The two had been together for 8 years before Harrison finally popped the question. It was reported that Harrison had proposed while the couple were on a family holiday on Valentine’s Day. Mr Ford had been married twice before and the proposal came as somewhat of a surprise for Calista.

As is the norm with celebrity weddings, the world turned its eyes and speculation to what the couple would wear for their wedding. Images of Calista in an extravagant wedding dress and Harrison sporting a smart tuxedo or suit were of course what sprang to mind. However, a man like Harrison Ford didn’t need a tux to get married; Mr Han Solo got married in stylish Wrangler jeans. Calista also took a casual approach; she opted for a casual white dress. The couple got married in Santa Fe New Mexico.

The ring bearer for the ceremony was Liam, Calista’s son, who is 9 years old. Harrison has stated on numerous occasions how grateful he is to have been welcome into Calista’s family and especially for being allowed to bond with her son, who she adopted in 2001. Of course, he has his own children too, but with them being all grown up now Harrison is again able to help raise a child.

The couple’s wedding rings were very understated, but very still elegant and tasteful. Their wedding vows were also simple but romantic. The ceremony was performed by Gov. Richardson, and, in keeping with the rest of the wedding arrangement, it was a very simple ceremony. The man who pronounced Ford and Flockhart husband and wife was News Mexico’s chief justice; Charles W. Daniels.

Ford took a day off from work; He was shooting Cowboys And Aliens (directed by Jon Favreau) in New Mexico. He got back to work just a few days after tying the knot.

It seems that although the couple had a very special day, their desire to keep it low-key and tasteful was what makes their wedding stand out from most other Hollywood weddings. The wedding itself seems to be just the cherry on top of the cake for their relationship.
