No Strings Attached
In this comedy, Emma (Natalie Portman) and Adam (Ashton Kutcher) are life-long friends who almost ruin everything by having sex one morning. In order to protect their friendship, they make a pact to keep their relationship strictly “no strings attached.” “No strings” means no jealousy, no expectations, no fighting, no flowers, no baby voices. It means they can do whatever they want, whenever they want, in whatever public place they want, as long as they don’t fall in love. The question becomes -

A waste of good talents,
All the ingredients for a fine contemporary comedy are here, including a pertinent theme (the difficulty of finding love amid career obligations and easy sex) and an assortment of courageous young actors (Natalie Portman, Ashton Kutcher, Greta Gerwig, Olivia Thirlby). Unfortunately the director is Ivan Reitman, who’s never made a more emotionally complex film than Meatballs (1979). Telling the story of a med student (Portman) and an aspiring TV writer (Kutcher) who try to navigate a “sex friendship” without falling in love, Reitman settles for easy laughs, and his off-color jokes about menstruation and drug use feel like greeting-card gags. The charismatic leads keep this watchable, but it’s a waste of their talents.

Ehhh. (*shrugging shoulders impartially*),
I consider myself to be a solid judge of a movie based on the previews, and this movie’s previews definitely piqued my interest. As a single woman, begrudgingly falling into the stereotype, I’m always seeking a good love story that I can relate to. Unfortunately, I felt that this one fell flat. A decent overall movie to watch on a rainy day, but a uninspiring storyline.

No chemistry,
It is really sad when you get your expectations up with a new Ivan Reitman comedy only to be bitterly dissapointed by it. There is a hardly any chemistry between the two protaganists (Portman and Kutcher). All we get is a bawdy comedy with a slow moving story. Kevin Kline is simply wasted. Just oh dear, yawn.

A surprisingly good romantic comedy.,
I have never been a big fan of Ashton Kutcher’s since most of his role consist of him being the annoying bumbling fool such as his role in FOX’s ‘That ’70s Show’ and films such as ‘Dude Where’s My Car’ and ‘Just Married’. The only film of his that I liked was his performance in ‘The Butterfly Effect’. So when this film was first announced I never gave it a second thought until I saw the trailer. The trailer looked good and even though Kutcher was in it, it also starred the beautiful and talented Amanda Peet who I have loved since her role on the short lived WB series ‘Jack & Jill’. I finally saw this film on DVD and I was pleasantly surprised at how good this film was. Not only did Amanda Peet give an excellent performance but Ashton Hutcher also did a good job as well. Even though it was a comedy there are other aspects to the film including romance and hints of drama. It is a wonderful film that I believe both men and women alike will find very entertaining and romantic. Over the coming years I see this film becoming a very popular date film.

Sucker for a Love Story,
This is a great movie. Probably targeted for the 20 something crowd, but I can tell you that I am a mid 40s divorced guy and I truly enjoyed the movie. I saw the movie on cable tv and decided it was worth the bucks to get a copy for my library. Some have said the story line is predictable but I did not find an issue with the story at all. I think there are some universal themes that make this a really decent movie. I was never a big Aston Kucher fan but I really like the way he portrayed his character. I ended up really rooting for him. Amanda Peet is obviously very easy on the eyes, and she does a very nice job of showing depth and vulnerability. I really like the ending. I did not find it predictable, and I have seen so many movies where you get the feeling that the writer just ran out of energy, but I did not get that vibe at all with this movie. I have not checked out the added items yet on the CD – but even without them this DVD is worth your money…

Adorable,
I’m not a big fan of chick flicks since I find the majority of them fairly stupid, unrealistic and cheesy…but I was very entertained by this one. The humor wasn’t forced or overdone instead it seemed effortless or almost on accident which made it real and more true to life. Ashton was absolutely adorable and the whole story was very sweet and relatable. I rarely buy movies, but I’m looking forward to buying this one. I recommend it 100%
