NTSB Investigating “Fuselage Rupture” on Boeing Jet
The National Transportation Safety Board says an “in-flight fuselage rupture” apparently forced a Southwest Airlines Boeing 737 from Phoenix to California to make an emergency landing at a Yuma military base.

Hi patthekat, you’re welcome. I got one of the roughest starts ever in the business. Drew Barrymore sicked five guards on me, Julia Roberts’s guards threatened me, Justin Long’s manager gave me this really bad look (all those photos are in the flickr.) Gerard and the cast of Law and Order (those are coming) were really the only pleasant opportunities I had. In addition, not many people know this but paparazzo only get paid every three months. Reason for this is because that’s how the media companies (like newspapers) strike the deal with our agencies (I worked for Spotlight Press.)
Spotlight never paid me though. I don’t mind the hassel because I’ve worked through roughness and I’m better equipped these days. The hardest part of shooting is facial recognition. The hardest part of the job is getting paid every three months. If there was a way to get paid faster and get paid well, I’d be all over this business. It’s very addictive. Additionally, some paparazzo (like myself) aren’t the swine that television shows make us out to be.
It’s rough, maybe I’ll go back one day. I’d still do it as a side gig if I were guaranteed payment upon delivery of the images.

Chris: Since I’ve not been a follower of celebrities, I had no idea what a paparazzo was or does so this has been an eye opener for me. I know that some of them are blatantly obnoxious and disrespectful. Case in point… We all download photos of our favs, like Gerry, and we don’t give it a second thought as to the circumstances behind the photo, especially if Gerry, in this case, is alone on a city street. I had seen a few shots of him and didn’t think anything of it until I saw a video clip that showed he was being hounded relentlessly by some paparazzos (sp?). They harassed him so much that he was forced to call someone on his cell for help. Eventually, a friend did come and rescue him. That made me really angry that it took someone to rescue Gerry for him to be free of those nasty people. Some of the things they were trying to nail him on (like who he’s sleeping with) were pushing him to the edge. It shows how much patience and class Gerry has because he had every right to go after those people.

I agree with you and that’s why I mentioned that I’m not one of those low lifes. For the record, a paparazzo is the singular of paparazzi (which you surely must be familiar with.)
In truth though, you can’t totally blame the paparazzi because the one’s that leak the info of whereabouts are their agents or movie companies. Something along the lines of, "Hi, I saw your work in US Weekly. It’s amazing. Meanwhile, my client is at so and so. It’d be lovely if you shoot her and I’d guarantee you exclusives." Exclusives pay paparazzi lots of money if they can sell them quickly.
Antagonizing celebrities gets emotions out of them, that’s not always such a great thing to do. As a street photographer I’m taught to disarm people with my smile. It works. I’ve made it work in general. Gerard is a good guy.
