Yes i agree. She is so brittle and hurtful in this movie, but all within the framework of that awesomely awful character she has created.

Also, she did a nice job of getting across Margot’s vulnerability without trying to make her likable to the audience. Because of course i really, really didn’t like her! You? But she made her very human, not a monster. I may have had more empathy for her complicated character had she not been such a damaging mother.
